The Lakers make another second round exit and the rumor mill starts churning. Â There were talks of shipping off Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol, bringing in Andre Iguodala and even amnestying Kobe Bryant (jokes). Â The latest in the rumor mill is Brandon Roy coming back from retirement and joining the turbulent team. Â Read more after the jump.
Brandon Roy retired last year after suffering from chronic knee problems. Â It was quite a shock to everyone who felt the 27-year-old guard could still play at a high level. Â Since then there’s been rumors of a Roy comeback and now a team has been listed as a possible destination.
According to Chris Palmer of ESPN:
I love Brandon Roy as much as anyone else and I still think he can come off the bench and cause some havoc but I don’t think he’s the answer to the Lakers’ problems. Â It’s clear the team needs a young point guard to facilitate the offense. Â An injury-prone Roy can’t really fix their offensive woes. Â As a plus side the Lakers can get Roy for the veteran minimum, a small price to pay for a former All-Star.
