Police arrested a 54-year-old man in southeast Fresno for carrying a shotgun disguised as a Super Soaker water gun. Where was he going with this gun? What was his purpose?
Two officers were patrolling an area near Barton and Nevada avenues when they saw a man carrying what appeared to be a Super Soaker water gun on a rifle sling around his neck, said Sgt. Rick de Jong. When the officers approached the man, they found the toy had been turned into a home-made shotgun built into the plastic shell of the water gun, de Jong said. The weapon, commonly called a “zip gun,†was loaded, he said. The man was booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and manufacture of an illegal weapon.
