Government officials in China have approved the multi-billion dollar purchase of Motorola Mobility by Google, which has been already been approved here in the US and other countries.  China was the last country to approve the deal Google first announced earlier this year.
Google issued a statement stating that “We are pleased the deal has received approval in all jurisdictions,†Motorola Mobility said in an e-mailed statement, confirming that the deal has been approved in China. “We expect to close imminently.â€
Now that the deal is set Google can now acquire more than 17,000 patients from Motorola.  According to news reports the deal between Motorola and Google  is the largest wireless-equipment deal in the last decade.
“Our stance since we agreed to acquire Motorola has not changed and we look forward to closing the deal,†Mountain View, California-based Google said in an e-mailed statement. The company also confirmed it had received word from Chinese authorities of the purchase being approved.
