Now reports are saying that J.Lo is in fact leaving the show after this season despite AI‘s efforts to keep her on board. No matter who wins the title of this season’s “American Idol,” the biggest loser might be the Fox singing competition show itself.
That’s because judge Jennifer Lopez has decided to exit stage left after next week’s finale to focus on other pursuits, according to reports in Us Weekly and E! News.
“She’s just too busy,” a source told E! News.
It has been an especially busy stretch for the 42-year-old New York product, who was just named the world’s most powerful celebrity by Forbes magazine. Her latest romantic comedy, “What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” hits theaters Friday, she is releasing a new single, and has locked down a number of endorsement deals and a clothing line at Kohl’s.
She also recently produced a talent series, “Q’Viva!’, with ex-husband Marc Anthony for Univision and is about to embark on a summer co-headlining tour with Enrique Iglesias.
On top of all that, she still plays mom to 4-year-old twins Max and Emme.
She hasn’t been just plain old “Jenny From the Block” in a long, long time.
Lopez herself has been less forthcoming about her plans:
“I don’t know,†she said on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show†on Tuesday, when asked whether she would return to “Idol” for next season. “I enjoy it. I really do enjoy it.
“This is my second year. I don’t know if I can go for a third year. I miss doing other things. It really does lock you down.â€
Lopez’s rep had no comment about the rumors when reached by the Daily News.
