11 News has learned two chaperones are being charged with harassment, over alleged discipline at a local prom. But the women tell us it never happened. Katie Spurlin is a senior at Manitou Springs High School. She says at first, it seemed like no big deal when prom chaperons started demonstrating dance moves. “They were like, ‘This is inappropriate,’ and they would show what was inappropriate. Then they would say this is what we would rather see,†Spurlin said. She says that when the teens didn’t listen, those same parents started calling the girls “whores†and “sluts.†According to the Manitou Springs police report about the incident, one mother allegedly told a security guard at the prom, that the dance moves were filthy and “similar to what you would see on MTV.†The report goes on to say that she told the security guard the students were dancing, “like they are having sex with their clothes on.†Then, the police report says those moms took a can of Lysol disinfectant, and sprayed it on some of the kids who the chaperones believed were dancing inappropriately.
