A federal judge has sentenced former Ohio State and NFL quarterback Art Schlichter to nearly 11 years in prison and $2.5 million in restitution in a fraud case stemming from a million-dollar ticket-selling scheme.
The 52-year-old Schlichter has been in jail since January after authorities said he violated the conditions of his bond by
testing positive for cocaine use while on house arrest.
Schlichter, a former Indianapolis Colts quarterback, was charged for the sports ticket fraud scheme.
The judge postponed Schlichter’s sentencing earlier this year and agreed to give him more time to have his mental health
assessed after a follow-up appointment was canceled when Schlichter was arrested for the alleged cocaine use.
Schlichter pleaded guilty to the fraud scheme last fall.
