We’re not sure what this video will do to Justin Bethel’s draft stock, but the defensive back out of Presbyterian has certainly raised some eye brows with his amazing leaping ability.
The 6-foot NFL Draft prospect recorded a 39.5-inch vertical leap at the Combine (5th best overall), but in the clip below, he jumped onto a stack of boxes in the team locker room that was said to be five feet tall…flat footed.
The Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Year told CNBC’s Darren Rovell that he didn’t know how high the boxes were and he didn’t know it was posted on YouTube until someone told him. And now it has gone viral.
Several scouting reports project that Bethel will get selected in the later rounds of the draft. But if Jarron Gilbert’s viral video of him jumping out of a pool is any indicator – he got drafted in the third round in 2009 — then maybe there’s hope for Bethel to sneak up a round or two.
