Man 1st SOPA waved across the world, an the internet ha to ‘campaign’ against it, and now it’s looking like the same thing may have to happen for CISPA, Hit the Jump.

See here’s the thing, Yes the internet is the wild west right now, and Yes some rules will have to settle in place for everyone to feel safe, But trying to completely have control….That’s just not right and should never happen.

SOPA was a matter of controlling content, whom had true ownership, and should people have the right to reuse said content on the web without permission. Now see that one made a little sense, because yes people that can make money off of their own content should be allowed, But trying to come in and blanket the web with one rule about it was just ridiculous. There needs to be an intricate system in place that allows people to use what they want yet allowing those with ownership of content to still profit, but that will take time to figure out, and one wet blanket will not put out that fire!!
Now we have CISPA(Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act), in which congress has drafted a Bill that states “is designed to allow the sharing of threat data between the public and private sector to prevent digital attacks.” With Language like:

“…nullify current legal protections against wiretapping and similar civil liberties violations for that kind of broad data sharing. By encouraging the transfer of users’ private communications to US Federal agencies, and lacking good public accountability or transparency, these “cybersecurity” bills unnecessarily trade our civil liberties for the promise of improved network security.”

Now the thing is, yes we need protection against Cyber attacks, But NO we don’t need sites or organizations just handing over our private data to do it. The Prob is even if you don’t have anything to do with a cyber attack, BUT have something else in your system that isn’t exactly legal, they can then still SWOOP down on you after the fact because the law is the law. Yes you shouldn’t break the law anyway, BUT Your biz is still your biz, and if this Bill goes through, it will NO longer be your biz!!!
This is SO NOT Clean, Even the Obama administration is OPPOSED to this Bill, and a group of people including more than fifty professors, entrepreneurs and information security professionals have sent an Open Letter to congress in hopes of putting some sense into their heads. Now we know OUR voices will need to be heard just like SOPA, so hit the open letter at the bottom, see whom needs to be contacted, and lets get this Party started!!!!
