Today marks 10 years since Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes lost her life in a tragic accident in South America. The other members of her group TLC…T-Boz & Chilli…have released statements to Too Fab about what today means to them. See what they had to say below.
“Both Chilli and T-Boz say they don’t consider the date of Lisa’s passing a celebration,” a rep for Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas and Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins tells toofab.
“When a family member dies no one is expected to celebrate the day of their death,” the rep adds. “Lisa was a sister to both Chilli and T-Boz and she will forever be missed. Lisa’s legacy lives on through TLC.”
In another statement, Chilli adds “You never get over losing a family member. We love her and we miss her and that isn’t ever going to change.â€
While today is the 10th anniversary of Lisa’s death, 2012 also marks the 20th anniversary of the group — and T-Boz and Chilli have big plans in store.
The two are executive-producing a biopic about the group with VHI1, which will be written by “What’s Love Got to Do With It” scribe Kate Lanier.
They’re also working on a tour and album.
