Mike Woodson is looking for some defense from Amar’e Stoudemire, but that’s not what the Knicks’ coach got Friday in a no-effort loss by his entire team to the Cavs.  Stoudemire’s defense has been subpar for much of the season, but Woodson is demanding more from his big man.  Read more after the jump.

“His movement and how he’s alert defensively — that’s my big concern,” Woodson said. “I’m more concerned with five guys on the floor, helping one another defend and rebound the ball. I think offensively we’ll figure it out.”
Based on his first game back, Stoudemire won’t get any votes for Defensive Player of the Year. However, Iman Shumpert has been mentioned by several coaches, including the Bucks’ Scott Skiles, as being worthy of a berth on the NBA’s All-Defense team. Having only one other strong defender in the starting lineup in Tyson Chandler, the Knicks are going to keep Shumpert as a starter while moving Landry Fields to the bench.
