Cam Newton is clearly ready to be a global icon in video gamer circles.

The Panthers quarterback and Lions WR Calvin Johnson are finalists to grace the cover of Madden NFL 13 (the winner will be announced on ESPN’s SportsNation on April 25 at 5 p.m. ET, and votes are being cast at ESPN.com).

But in a new YouTube video, Newton is stepping up his self-proclaimed “CAM-paign Challenge” for the honor while challenging Johnson, a.k.a. Megatron, and the rest of America to his own Madden challenge.

“I’ve been a Madden investor ever since I could remember,” says Newton, touting his skills on EA Sports’ popular game on any platform.

“I will play you, I’m not scared, because Madden 13 needs a real gamer. I … am … that. Because why? I fear no one,” adds Newton, while dropping numerous aliases for himself, including “Super Cam,” “Mr. Swag Man” and “Ace Boogey.”
