Kobe Bryant has watched two teammates with whom he’s won multiple titles—Derek Fisher and Lamar Odom—be traded from the Los Angeles Lakers this season, and he plans to do everything he can to bring them back to L.A. as free agents this summer, NBA.com is reporting.

Bryant “plans to use his close friendship with both to convince them that a reunion is in everyone’s best interest, bruised egos and all,” according to the report.

But not only will Fisher and Odom have to be convinced to come back to an organization they feel has spurned them, the Lakers front office will have to be convinced to reacquire them.

Dallas has a team option on Odom’s contract for next season, and his deal is only partially guaranteed, NBA.com notes. And since Odom’s season in Dallas has not gone well—he’s averaging career lows in minutes (21.3), points (6.9), rebounds (4.4) and assists (1.8)—it’s not hard to envision the Mavericks being willing to let him walk.

Fisher is signed through the end of the season in Oklahoma City.

Asked whether he’s talked to Odom about rejoining the Lakers, Bryant said, “No, not about that, because I don’t want to interfere with what he has going on in Dallas. Right now, it’s just more about him being OK and making sure that he’s doing what he can to help the Dallas Mavericks out.”
