Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Bobby Jenks was arrested early Friday morning and charged with driving under the influence, according to the Lee County, Fla., sheriff’s office.
The police report indicated Jenks was booked at 3:43 a.m. on five misdemeanor charges, including driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, damage to property and leaving the scene of a crash. He was released on bail at 8:45 a.m. and is tentatively scheduled to appear in court on April 9.
The 31-year-old Jenks was in Fort Myers rehabbing after multiple back surgeries during a harrowing offseason. There is no timetable for his return to the mound.
