Chipper Jones will retire at the end of the 2012 season, the Atlanta Braves said Thursday.

The Braves and Jones said they have expressed interest in Jones remaining with the franchise in a yet-to-be-determined capacity after he retires.

Jones, who was drafted No. 1 overall by the Braves in the 1990 amateur draft, has spent his entire major league career with the franchise.
