It’s called “SpoofApp” and, if you use it, it changes your phone Number when calling out to a Number you picked, and Scammers are picking Numbers you may recognize, or feel comfortable picking up. Hit the Jump to see what’s going on.

If a Scammer uses your local Bank’s Number to call you with, and the Number looks official, and uses things like recorded statements that say “This Call may be recorded for quality assurance”, You may just be fooled in to thinking they are official enough to give up your account info, or doc, or something you really should not give up. BUT now that we know that, we are in a good space, here’s what you do;

1. If someone calls you, whether official or not, Hang up, then call a number you can confirm, and confirm the call.

2. Do NOT give up Any info to someone that calls you, ANYTIME!!

3. If you already took a call like this, and gave out some info, Call the Authorities, including the Bank, and Police.

Now you have your safety measures in place, you should understand what ‘SpoofApp’ does, like not just change a phone #, but also a voice changer, and records and playback calls. It’s a one stop shop for a scammer -_-

I’m sure when SpoofApp dropped, the makers didn’t think Scammers would use it as a tool, but it is now, so let’s be careful out there!!
