Bobbi Kristina is set to go against her grandmother’s wishes by marrying her ‘adopted’ brother Nick Gordon, it has been claimed. The 19-year-old daughter of late singer Whitney Houston is said to be totally disregarding Cissy Houston’s wishes who has slammed their relationship as ‘incestuous’.
A source said: ‘Krissy has told her grandmother that she doesn’t need her blessing to marry Nick, and the more Cissy objects to the relationship, well that only cements Krissy’s decision,’ Star magazine reports. Â ‘It’s just a very sad situation. Clearly, Krissy loves Nick, but she has just lost her mother, and her entire world has been turned upside down. Krissy doesn’t think she needs to wait, and points to her mom’s sudden death as the reason to marry Nick,’ the source adds.
Meanwhile TMZ reports that Bobbi Kristina is not listening to her grandmother and the website reports she is telling friends she doesn’t care what her family thinks. A source told the site that Bobbi: ‘Can’t please everyone, so she is going to please herself by doing what she wants to do for once.’
The teenager was seen flashing an ring on her engagement finger and reports claim her 22-year-old beau proposed on March 10th.
While Nick was never formally adopted by Whitney he moved into her home when he was 12-years-old and has lived there ever since.
With Bobbi’s mother passing away last month the couple have been sharing her $1.2million Atlanta home together. According to Star magazine Nick’s grandmother Maxine Gordon said:’Nick took care of Whitney and Kristina. He’s always been extremely protective of Kristina.’
In a series of tweets over the past few months the Nick referred to Bobbi as sister and in turn she called him brother.
While the pair are not actually being blood relatives, Bobbi and Nick grew up together after Whitney took him in at the age of 12 when his father went to prison and his mother was unable to take care of him.
However, Cissy said that Bobbi and Nick’s romance still constitutes wrongdoing, telling TMZ.com: ‘What they’re doing is incestuous.’ Cissy is also quoted as telling the website that she believes Nick is taking advantage of Bobbi and her issues. It is claimed that Cissy has even requested that the Whitney Houston Estate get involved in an attempt to get him evicted from Whitney’s Atlanta townhouse
A spokesperson for Bobbi was not available for comment earlier today. A family friend told this week’s Star magazine how Nick proposed to Bobbi over the weekend.
‘Nick proposed to Krissy on March 10, and she said yes,’ the family relative confirmed. ‘Krissy said Nick is the only person she trusts in the world. They have a very deep connection.’
TMZ claims friends of the couple believe they are heading to Las Vegas soon – although whether they plan to get married there is not clear.Â
Star says the couple are keeping the news quiet for now – but quotes other sources expressing concern and suspicion at the time of the proposal.
‘Everyone is worried that Nick is looking to take advantage of Krissy,’ a friend told the publication, referring to the $10m Bobbi is set to inherit from her late mother.
Nick added fuel to speculation about their relationship status when he tweeted last week: ‘Yea we got a little closer and what!!!’Â Gordon also posted a picture of himself and Bobbi Brown to his Twitter page on Friday. Â And Nick has told fans only to follow Bobbi Kristina’s real account.
