A New York woman has died police say after climbing into a clothing drop box and becoming trapped inside.
Melissa Mazzeo, 51, of Long Island’s Sunnyside Terrace, climbed into the freestanding metal box in an alleyway Saturday afternoon but became trapped and suffocated police believe when the door dropped on her neck.
Hearing her cries for help, a witness reported the woman to a next door bagel shop, alerting a maintenance worker to the scene.
That worker, Peter Schenck, said it was too late when he arrived, finding the woman unresponsive. – DM
