The mom told cops she was holding her daughter in her arms when the woman confronted her on E. 165th St., near Union Ave. in Morrisania about 4:30 p.m.

During the argument, the attacker pulled out a pen and stabbed the child once in the forehead, said police.

“The mother was desperate, kneeling next to the baby stroller. She was on her knees,” said John Martinez, 40, who witnessed the aftermath.

He said the child was crying and bleeding from the gash on her head.

He gave a napkin to another man who tended to the baby’s wound.

By the time cops arrived, the attacker was gone, said witnesses.

The injured child and mother were taken to Lincoln Hospital where the baby was treated for the nonlife threatening wound, said police.

Police believe the women knew each other and were unsure whether the baby was the intended target of the attack.
