Randy Moss took to his personal USTREAM channel — on his 35th birthday, no less — to deliver an important announcement to his “true Moss fans.”
“The real Moss is on his way back to the NFL,” he said.”I didn’t want to make no splash, that’s why I left it on Moss TV.”
The former Patriots receiver also fielded questions as they rolled in from viewers.
Any regrets about announcing his retirement before the start of last season?
“No, I do not regret retiring,” he said. “I really think I am because retiring… I had to really get out of the fast lane and really get a grasp on what was going on in my real life. I’m okay. I’m okay. I’m happy to be in the position I’m in. I’ve been playing football since I was 6-years old. I don’t think y’all really realize that. The day I retired took a lot to call it quits, took a lot of guts.”
Moss enjoyed watching the group grow, whooping as the number went up over 200. But he sobered up when asked about the passing of Robert Kraft’s wife, Myra.
“The impact she had on the guys… It’s very hard for a woman to have that sort of an impact on that sport. That man lost his other half, man. I still have to show my support because she was a hell of a woman, for real. When I came to New England she embraced me with open arms. She told me, “We wouldn’t have brought you here if we didn’t think you can do great things.”
The birthday boy’s agent called in the final three minutes of the show; it seems the announcement was news to him as well. Moss took the call with a laugh, shrugging off business talk in favor of finishing up with his fans. The details of where, when, and how didn’t seem to bother him in imagining his return.
He says his focus is more simple: “Faith, family, and football.”
