Los Angeles investigators believe that one young girl may have fallen prey to both teachers arrested this week for abusing students at an inner-city elementary school. Click below to read the rest of the story.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the unidentified girl’s parents complained to officials at Miramonte Elementary school in 2008 after their daughter, then a second-grader, showed them some odd photos taken by her teacher, accused perv Mark Berndt.
The school’s principal dismissed their concerns, saying the shots looked like they could have been taken for a school project, but the girl was later transferred to the second suspect’s class, the Times reported.
A few weeks later, the girl complained to her parents that the second teacher, Martin Bernard Springer, groped her thigh and leg, the Times said.
The girl’s parents said they complained to local police after the groping incident, but never heard back.
They had largely forgotten about the incidents until last week, when Berndt was arrested and charged with 23 counts of lewd conduct against children for allegedly taking bondage-style photos of his students and, in some cases, feeding them semen.
Springer was arrested on Friday and charged with fondling two girls in his classroom over the last three years.
Law enforcement sources told the Times that the former second grader is one of one Springer’s accusers, and they are looking into her claims against Berndt as well.
The accuser’s father said his wife dug out the 2008 photos this week after she heard about the charges against Berndt.
In one photo, the girl is seen eating a cookie with a shiny substance on it.
Berndt has been accused of feeding his students semen with a blue spoon — a spoon and container found in his classroom trashcan both tested positive for semen — and some parents have said their children told them the teacher fed them cookies with semen on them.
