Authorities say the “sophisticated operation” housed in all five floors at 610 Morris Park Avenue included a watering system, electrical system and a carbon dioxide system.
The confiscated plants, each with a yield of about two pounds of marijuana, had a combined street value of at least $8 million.
After receiving community complaints and conducting a two-month investigation, police finally got a search warrant for the location today and removed the plants by the bagful.
“Very shocking, because I live here and I never see nothing, never smell nothing. It’s very shocking,” said a local.
“I live down the block, 644 Morris Park, I had no idea at all,” said another local.
“It’s a big improvement to catch those bad people, you know, for the sake of the kids,” said a third.
NY1 is awaiting word on the suspects’ charges as the investigation continues.
