In what could be the ultimate display of matter and anti-matter colliding, Tiger Woods and Tim Tebow could end up playing together in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
According to GlobalGolfPost.com, a highly placed source says the tournament is mulling an invitation to the Denver Broncos quarterback. The source went on to say that if Tebow accepts the invitation, his first choice as a partner is the 14-time major winner. Woods would have to approve the pairing.
There has also been speculation that Dallas Cowboysquarterback Tony Romo could be a possible partner for Woods, who will be entering the event for the first time since 2002.
Woods will be making his 2012 debut on the PGA Tour at Pebble Beach, having endured a well-publicized scandal involving numerous affairs and then a difficult divorce from his ex-wife Elin Nordegren. After an extended period away from the game, he returned in 2011 but struggled to simply make the cut at several tournaments.
Woods won the Pro-Am back in 2000.
Tebow, in the meantime, has more pressing matters at hand. His Broncos face a tough AFC playoff test against the New England Patriots in Foxborough, Mass., on Saturday. If successful, Tebow’s season might not stop until the Super Bowl on Feb. 5. The Pro-Am takes place the following weekend.
