New York Knicks star forward Carmelo Anthony thinks that the league would have been better off had David Stern allowed the nixed trade that would have sent Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Lakers.  Read more after the jump.
“I thought it would have been good for the Lakers and good for the whole NBA,â€Anthony told the New York Daily News. “As a guy who loves to compete, I would have liked to see him out West with the Lakers. For me — I’ve been battling the Lakers for the last seven years when I was in the Western Conference — I liked that.â€
A deal was agreed upon in principle that would have sent Paul to the Lakers earlier this month, however David Stern, to much controversy, did not allow that trade to go through. Several days later, Stern did allow a trade that sent Paul from the NBA owned New Orleans Hornets to the Los Angeles Clippers.
It was believed prior to Paul’s trade that his most preferred destination was with the Anthony on the New York Knicks, however the club did not have enough pieces to offer New Orleans in return.
