In the weeks prior to the 2010-11 NBA season, it looked as if New Jersey Nets All-Star point guard Deron Williams would gain a partnering force in Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard. Now, two games into the season, Williams not only does not have Howard as a partner in crime in New Jersey, but he is also without injured star center Brook Lopez. Â Read more after the jump.
“We need some more pieces,â€Â Williams told the New York Times. “There’s no secret about that. There’s not many starters on our team right now. We have a lot of great role players, a lot of guys who know their job, but in this league you need some top-tier guys so you can get the job done.â€
The Nets acquired Williams last season from the Utah Jazz to be the foundation of their most recent rebuilding process. The club has indicated their interest in acquiring other major pieces from around the league to, but as of now has not been able to supply Williams with any support.
New Jersey is now 1-1 on the young NBA season.
