A man is in jail accused of lashing out at his soon to be ex-wife and her brother after Christmas Eve dinner. Wendell Gunthorpe was arrested Saturday night and charged with stalking, aggravated battery and attempted murder after police say he shot his brother in law with an arrow and also hit his soon to be ex-wife.

A Police say Gunthorpe was waiting outside wearing a mask and holding a bow and arrow when the victims were leaving their parents’ home after dinner. Someone walked up to him and pulled his mask off and that’s when police say he fired his weapon. Neighbors say they saw a Santa hat, they think belonged to the suspect, left at the scene as Gunthorpe ran away. “In the left side of the head and stuck and he was bleeding, quite a little bit of blood, spots of blood but evidently he’s okay, they took him to the hospital. I came down and I saw the Santa clause hat, I didn’t see the mask,” Jon Laubert said.
