So you may or may not know what the hell DRM is, but it is very important to RIAA, the Music Industry, it stands for Digital Rights Management, and it controls Digital content after it’s originally sold, i.e. when you ‘purchase’ an mp3 and want to give it to all of your friends, but can’t cause it has DRM on it limiting the times it can be coped, Well Louis CK doesn’t care, and still made a good bit of Money, which is gonna put RIAA in a quandary! This is gonna make Artist say “Why the F should I sign with a label to get piece of my pie, when I can sell/give it away, and still make money!” Famed Comedian Louis CK recently put a “Live at the Beacon Theater special” on sale at his Website, and told people, there is No DRM on this material, and they could either buy it for $5, and give it to whomever they want(cause No DRM) and yet he still made a Cool Millie, here’s the proof:
Of course, he already has Fame, so promotion wasn’t as much of an issue(which is usually where a Label helps an Artist), Cause if Nobody knows you, they are not inclined to buy your ish, No DRM or Not!
