Reigning NBA MVP Derrick Rose has agreed to a five-year extension of his contract with the Chicago Bulls worth a reported $94 million, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The announcement is not entirely surprising; Rose and Chicago have reportedly been working on this extension for some time.  But Rose will be fortunate enough to benefit from a rule in the new NBA collective bargaining agreement named after himself: the Derrick Rose Rule allows a player to receive a larger percentage of his team’s salary cap money if he has twice been voted a starter in the All-Star game, twice been voted All-NBA, or won an MVP award during his rookie deal.
By becoming the youngest MVP in league history last season, Rose likely earned himself roughly an additional $10 million dollars, according to the Tribune.
