Stan Kroenke — the billionaire behind the St. Louis Rams, the Denver Nuggets and Arsenal football — says one of his employees stole a gun from him, tried to kill himself, and now he needs protection from the guy.

Kroenke obtained a temporary restraining order against Mark Waldo, his former property manager. According to the docs, Waldo took the weapon from Kroenke’s mansion in the hills above Malibu last weekend … and when police responded he made a failed attempt to shoot himself in the head.

Kroenke says police immediately placed Waldo — a 6’2″ 300 lb. man — on a 5150 psychiatric hold.

The TRO requires Waldo to move out of the Kroenke home — and to stay 100 yards away from Kroenke and his wife, Anne. By the way, she happens to be a Wal-mart heir.

A hearing on whether to extend the protection order is scheduled for December 14.
