The NFL formally announced that it is launching an official monthly publication called NFL Magazine that promises insider perspective.
The first issue will hit newsstands Dec. 13th.
Priced at $5; annual subscribers will pay $19.90 for 12 issues. NFL Publishing’s Jim Buckley will be the magazine’s editor. CBS studio analyst Boomer Esiason and NFL reporter Andrea Kremer have been hired as regular contributors.
Buckley is quoted in a news release as saying, “We know that 140 characters is not enough to tell the stories that NFL fans need to read about their heroes. The League’s publication will be able to go places other magazines can’t go, all with a true ‘insider’s’ perspective.”
The first issue will feature stories on 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh, Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and Colts quarterback Peyton Manning. Other features include a story on the 40th anniversary of the NFL’s longest game and a behind-the-scenes look at NFL Network’s pregame show, “NFL GameDay Morning.”
