Former Penn State football coach and accused child sex abuser Jerry Sandusky was released from prison on bail today by a judge who has reportedly volunteered for Sandusky’s foundation, Second Mile.

District Judge Leslie Dutchcot released Sandusky on $100,000 bail this morning, a price that surprised prosecutors. The bail conditions required Sandusky to merely sign a paper and walk out, stating if he fails to show up in the future, he would have to pay $100,000.

Dutchcot volunteered at Second Mile in 2008 and 2009 and contributed an amount between $500 and $1,000 to the foundation. It is reported, however, that she had never met Sandusky before.

Perhaps the most alarming aspect of this is that Sandusky went back to his home directly after his release, which is next door to an elementary school. The principal of that school is said to be taking measures to protect students.
