A dead baby boy was found in a trash bin at an Illinois Salvation Army store had been strangled soon after he was born and police are looking for the child’s mother, according to officials. Continue reading after the jump.
According to a press release from the Streamwood Police Department, the Cook County medical examiner’s office is calling the infant’s death a homicide.
The police said the infant was a boy, 18 inches long, and had been carried to full term. The police also believe that the mother of the child had given birth between 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. in the washroom of the store at 1080 S. Barrington Rd.
Police released a composite sketch of the person they believe to be the infant’s mother and also said they believe the woman may have entered the store with another woman and a child.
The release described the mother as being a Hispanic female between 14 and 25 years old, standing 5-feet-1-inch to 5-feet-4-inches tall with a thin build and dark brown hair in a pony tail. She was wearing a purple hooded sweatshirt, dark sweatpants, a lime green jacket and dark suede boots, and was carrying a large purple/red purse.
