“We feel that this is an ideal time to approach the future NFL Hall of Famer,” Rush general manager and president Gene Nudo said in a statement. “It would be a fantastic honor to add Terrell to our current roster for the 2012 season.”

Owens, 37, conducted a private workout Tuesday in Calabasas, Calif., that drew no NFL representatives. He’s recovering from a torn ACL suffered last spring and says he’s ready to return after making 72 receptions for 983 yards and nine touchdowns for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2010.
