A 17-year-old boy, identified by relatives as Keith Salgado, was shot near Avenue C and E. 12th St. about 1:50 a.m., cops said. He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he died seven hours later.

“His life was taken too soon,” said Salgado’s cousin, Jahaira Rivera, 36. “We were hanging out last night and he decided to split for five minutes. In five minutes, he got shot.”

There were no arrests.

Relatives were at a loss to explain what could have motivated someone to kill the high school senior.

“Everybody loved him,” said Ashley Mora, 17, another of Salgado’s cousins. “He was always there for me. It’s just so sad.”

Police are also trying to determine who shot a man in the head on Franklin Ave. in the Bronx about 4:20 a.m. Sunday. The victim, whose name was not released, is in critical condition at Lincoln Hospital, cops said.

Fifteen other people were shot around the city during a 24-hour stretch ending at 6 a.m. Sunday, police sources said.

Three people were stabbed and one slashed during the same period. All were expected to survive.
