Victim Emma Pearse, 18, was lucky not to lose her eye and was forced to abandon her training to become a nurse as a result of the attack.
Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court heard that Lauren Johnston, now 20, launched the attack believing Ms Pearse had slept with her boyfriend.
Johnston, from Stalybridge in Greater Manchester, made threats against her on her mobile phone and via Facebook before violence erupted when the pair met by chance outside the town’s Pavilion Bar.
The court heard that Johnston, who had a history of alcohol use since she was 12, had to be dragged off her victim and had told other girls she would do the same again.
Miss Pearse described how she was confronted by Johnston and suddenly saw the shoe coming towards her face.
She said it was the worst pain she had ever felt, there had been a ‘hot rush’ to her head and there was blood everywhere.
Johnston claimed she was the victim of the attack but a jury found her guilty of a charge of unlawful wounding.
