Yesterday afternoon, news broke that Jay-Z’s protege and flagship artist on his Roc Nation imprint debuted with huge numbers for his first album. “Cole World: The Sideline Story” sold 218k units, making it the number one album in the country. Jay gave Cole a feature for the record and obviously gave him his start by signing him and having him appear on the Blueprint 3 album, but other than that…there was no major push on Jay’s behalf. There also wasn’t much airplay or video play at ALL, so this number is a true testament of what fans can do. Check out what Jay had to say below.
