Caterham has announced that it has founded a separate engineering company that will focus on producing a new line of affordable sports cars. Caterham Technology and Innovation Limited intends to translate the lessons of lightweight performance gleaned from years of building the Caterham Seven into an accessible product for the masses. There’s even talk of implementing lightweight materials and high-performance engine tech from the Team Lotus Formula One endeavor. Get excited. CTI even makes it clear that the company’s shareholders can expect to see a global product line within the next ten years or so.

In addition to designing and manufacturing light-weight giggle machines, CTI will also make its engineering services available to other manufacturers. While it’s likely that the majority of those clients will come from the automotive sector, CTI also intends to woo the aerospace industry as well.
