With only four weeks left in 2010, the sales horse race between Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro has pretty much been decided. The year’s winner in the rivalry will be Chevy, we can safely declare.
Not that Ford didn’t try. It was beating Camaro earlier this year during several months. Its highly regarded new V-6 engine — and the claim of being first with more than 300 horsepower and more than 30 miles per gallon highway looked like it could upend the Camaro.
But last month’s numbers didn’t look good for the pony car. Chevy sold 4,164 Camaros, 71 more than Mustang, Autodata reports. For the first 11 months of the year, Chevy moved 75,685 Camaros to Ford’s 68,264 Mustangs. Next year, Ford gets full benefit of its new engines. But Chevy brings a convertible version to bear.
General Motors and Ford Motor were spicing up the fight with competing claims and press releases. Now, it is ominously quiet. – USA Today
Just wait until the Camaro Convertible comes out next year….. The whipping will continue!
