Accused spree killer Nicholas Sheley (SHEE’-lee) was found guilty Monday of murdering 65-year-old Ronald Randall of Galesburg.

Randall was one of eight people in Illinois and Missouri investigators say were bludgeoned to death in June 2008.

Investigators say a 93-year-old man found in the trunk of his car was the first person killed. The bodies of three adults and a 2-year-old were found days later in an Illinois apartment.

Randall was found that day behind a grocery store and an Arkansas couple were found behind a gas station south of St. Louis.

Police say Sheley knew some in the apartment, but the rest of the killings appeared to be random.
