Just when it seemed people couldn’t spend any longer social networking and the social network media had reached capacity – a new iphone application is being launched which claims to add yet another dimension to the field. As if Facebook, Twitter and the dozens of other networking sites already in existence didn’t cover all bases; the new app called Blendr is adding a new dimension. In fact you could call it three dimensional networking because using geo-location technology it can log the position of all your online friends – so you can arrange to meet those nearby face to face.
JOEL SIMKHAI, BLENDR CEO and Founder says “Blendr is unlike anything that has ever come before. We’re bringing the social to social networking. You can now discover a world that you’ve never known before, all in the palm of your hand.” Joel is hoping people will get out from behind the computer screen and make real life connections. After downloading the app users can put in their interests from entertainment to sport and look for people in the local area who share them and start a chat. Blendr assures users they are totally in control of their privacy and only need reveal their location if they feel comfortable. The app is the little brother of existing app called Grindr which was aimed at the gay community which currently had 2.6 million users worldwide.
