San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Braylon Edwards was fined $50,000 for violating the NFL policy on substances of abuse, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
The fine is for Edwards’ arrest for driving under the influence in September 2010 while he was with the New York Jets. Edwards pleaded guilty in July, but won’t face a league suspension, according to the Sacramento Bee.
Edwards joined the 49ers on a one-year contract this offseason and is expected to give Alex Smith a downfield threat in the passing game.
