Two college roommates found the bloodied crook sprawled on the floor of a Columbus apartment they’d moved into just a few days before, WBNS 10 News reported.

“By all accounts, it looks like a burglary,” said Sgt. Steven Little of the Columbus police homicide squad, the Columbus Dispatch reported.

The bungling burglar, believed to be in his 30s or 40s, apparently rummaged around the apartment in an unsuccessful attempt to find something to stop the bleeding.

“I thought it was a murder, at first,” Nick Bockey, one of the students, told WBNS 10 News. “[I] looked around for a bit [and] saw there was only one man. It’s kind of obvious what happened.”

He’s unsure if he’ll stay in the apartment.

“I don’t know, might move out,” he told WBNS 10 News. “I mean, we just moved in on Wednesday, and this happens.”
