If you haven’t check out this documentary called Grizzly Man. After watching that you will know that bears are not to be messed with. I mean you probably know that already without looking at that documentary. Common sense disappeared from Brook Collins when a bear snatched up her dog and she decided to punch it in the nose. Check out the story on Collins brainless act after the jump.
An Alaskan dog owner slugged a black bear in the snout this week in a desperate attempt to save her dachshund when the beast tried to make off with her pet.
Brook Collins, 22, said she let her two dogs, Fudge and Toki, out in her Juneau backyard for their usual walk when she saw a black bear snatch Fudge up, “carrying her like a salmon”, the Juneau Empire reported.
Acting on instinct, Collins rushed to punch the bear in the face to save her dog.
“It was a stupid thing but I couldn’t help it,” Collins told the Empire.
“I know you’re not supposed to do that but I didn’t want my dog to be killed.”
The stunned bear released Fudge, who suffered minor claw and bite marks.
Bear sightings are common in Juneau and, even though her gutsy move saved Fudge, Collins said she’d never repeat the feat.
“I wasn’t in my right mind at the moment but I would never think of doing it again,” she said.
