Barry Bonds will learn his punishment for his obstruction of justice conviction when he is sentenced by a federal judge on Dec. 16, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

The sentencing date was set by U.S. District Judge Susan Illston in a brief on Tuesday.

Bonds was convicted of a single charge of obstruction of justice by a federal jury, while a mistrial was declared on three perjury charges earlier this year.

According to the Mercury News, Bonds will appeal his conviction to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals following his sentencing. He faces as much as nearly two years in prison, but is expected to receive a less severe punishment based on previous BALCO sentences.
