As anticipated, Lakers forward Ron Artest and U.S. women’s soccer team goalkeeper Hope Solo will compete on this fall’s season of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.†Despite rumors to the contrary Dwyane Wade is not part of the cast.
Artest told the Los Angeles Times that, in honor of his daughter, Diamond, he will donate all the money he earns on the show to the Cancer Research Foundation.
Diamond, at the age of four in 2007, was diagnosed with wilms tumor, a cancer of the kidneys that affects children.
“That’s the only reason I’m doing it,” Artest said. “I’m doing it for a cause.” Artest said he will earn $125,000 for appearing on the show, with the potential to earn more should he advance in each round.
