Last night MTV paid tribute to Amy Winehouse during the VMAs. Amy passed away at age 27 on July 23, 2011. Amy’s friend Russell Brand, who wrote a heartfelt letter after Amy’s death, shared the story of his friendship with Amy. Tony Bennett, who was the last person to record with Amy, played fans footage of their studio sessions, and Bruno Mars covered Amy’s song “Valerie.” Watch Bruno Mars singing “Valerie” after the jump.
