I thought the twitter craziness was bad enough yesterday when everyone was talking about how they were all shaken up after the earthquake…when half of them probably didn’t even feel a damn thing! They just wanted to be part the hype; either way this Washington Heights man took it to the next level! The naked “heights” madman who killed one person and wounded four others during a stabbing spree in his Manhattan apartment building lost his mind after feeling the tremors.
“He was screaming, ‘It’s the end of the world!'” said Edwin Rivera, whose mother was stabbed eight times. “He was under the influence of the earthquake. That’s why he did what he did.”
A stripped-down Christian Falero, 23, went banging on his neighbors’ doors in Washington Heights – and then viciously stabbed them once they answered, police sources said.
“When I looked through the peephole I saw the fellow running back and forth naked,” said Rivera, 62, who lives down the hall from his mom.
“I called my mother. I told her, ‘Close your door!'” he recounted. “She wasn’t able to close the door in time … This guy really went berserk.”
Falero – who was charged with murder and robbery – carved up 85-year-old Isabel Rivera, cutting her face, chest and leg. She was recovering at Harlem Hospital.
Neighbor Ignacio Reyes-Collazo, 81, died from stab wounds to his head and body after opening his Riverside Drive apartment door around 4 p.m. Tuesday, police sources said.
“The family is in mourning now,” said the victim’s son, Cesar Castro. “He’s a great guy. He’d help anybody.”
Reyes-Collazo’s wife, 75-year-old Margarita, was recovering from her stab wounds at Harlem Hospital.
