An Army procurement officer was sentenced Wednesday to three years in prison for taking bribes while based in Baghad. Bryant Williams, 40, was a 101st Airborne Division captain in charge of buying supplies and selecting contractors. Hit the jump to read the rest of the story.

He was convicted in December by a Manhattan Federal Court jury of forging bids, collecting forged bids from others and, once, using a firearm to demand a bribe from a contractor.
“Captain Bryant Williams was more interested in serving himself than serving his country,” U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said.
“Corruption and abuse of power by people like Williams in the military dishonors the servicemen and women who put their lives on the line for this country everyday.”
As part of the scam, Williams asked one contractor to send cash payments to an address in Iowa and another to wire money from a Dubai bank to another bank in the U.S.
Federal District Judge Barbara Jones also sentenced Williams to serve three years of supervised release.
