There isn’t much to speculate upon here. Take one tantalizing Jaguar XKR-S, cut off the roof, strengthen the body a bit and voila – Jaguar XKR-S Convertible. Sounds good, right?
Autoblog spies recently captured this bright red prototype out running the Nürburgring, and judging by how composed and put-together this tester looks, we’d say that the XKR-S Convertible’s debut isn’t too far away. (We’re looking at you, Frankfurt Motor Show.)
Expect powertrain and performance details to be carried over unchanged from the coupe. That means the Jaguar droptop will likely produce 550 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque from its supercharged 5.0-liter V8. The hardtop will sprint to 60 miles per hour in just 4.2 seconds, but we expect the roofless version to come in with a time that’s a tenth of a second or two longer than that.
