Miami Dolphins coach Tony Sparano sounds like he’s entertaining the idea of establishing an old folks home in his locker room.

In a somewhat startling answer to a question Thursday, Sparano said he wouldn’t rule out signing 41-year-old retired quarterback Brett Favre.
“I can’t rule anything out,” Sparano said.

But, for once, it sounds as though Favre is ruling out a return.

“Brett Favre’s retired,” Favre’s agent, Bus Cook told ESPN. “He’s like Elvis now. People just won’t let go.”

Sparano recently granted 36-year-old retired running back Tiki Barber a workout.

“Tiki came in, worked out and did a nice job,” Sparano said, confirming a report Wednesday by FOXSports.com’s Jay Glazer.

On Monday, the Dolphins signed 36-year-old linebacker Jason Taylor.

But Sparano didn’t speak about Favre with much conviction.

“We don’t rule anything out,” Sparano said, anticipating the furor his answer could bring.
“I don’t know how you want me to answer that. That’ll be all over the news now, too. But you know, I’m giving you the only answer I can give you.

“We brought in Tiki. Obviously, you know Tiki’s age. We signed Jason Taylor. We’re going to flip over whatever rocks we think are necessary in this process. (But) I don’t want to say something I feed into the fire on.”

Dolphins fans are so upset with quarterback Chad Henne they chanted “We Want Orton!” at Monday’s public practice at Sun Life Stadium. That was a reference to the Dolphins’ once-active trade talks about Denver Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton.

Sparano said the chant made him “sick,” and Henne admitted “deep down inside it hurt.”
