Wimbley had been set to play for the $11.3 million franchise tag tender before agreeing to the long-term deal.
Wimbley will be guaranteed $29 million in the deal, while the Raiders get additional room under the salary cap.
The outside linebacker was one of several players to sign his franchise tender before the owner-enacted lockout shut down NFL business for months.
Wimbley led Oakland with nine sacks last season after coming over from Cleveland in a trade for a third-round pick. Keeping him was a key priority this offseason for owner Al Davis.
